Sonship- It’s Your Identity and Your Authority.
“Jesus replied, “While you were ministering, I watched Satan topple until he fell suddenly from heaven like lightning to the ground. Now you understand that I have imparted to you my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority. However, your real source of joy isn’t merely that these spirits submit to your authority, but that your names are written in the journals of heaven and that you belong to God’s kingdom. This is the true source of your authority.””
Luke 10:18-20 TPT
There are 3 major truths I want to point out in this scripture. The first is that Jesus said "while you were ministering". That hit me differently because I think it's easy to think the enemy isn't "defeated" until we see the breakthrough. But Jesus said He already overcame and defeated the enemy, and He's given us authority to trample over the kingdom of darkness. It seems now it's just a matter of us believing it and walking it out in obedience. Jesus said every time you step out to minister to someone else, to share the gospel, to love like Jesus, Satan falls.
Truth number 2 is that "absolutely nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority". Yes!!! I've heard people talk about how Satan attacks more when you start stepping out for Jesus. We all experience warfare because he wants to distract, discourage and derail you. BUT Jesus said nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority! So believe what Jesus said, even if you have to repeat it over and over again until your mind is renewed and you're convinced that nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority.
The last thing that sticks out to me is "your real source of joy isn't merely that these spirits submit to your authority, but that your names are written in the journals of heaven and that you belong to God's kingdom. THIS is the true source of your authority." Wow! Have you ever gotten so angry at the enemy and just wanted to pumble him? I know I have. I experienced something like that recently. I was so angry at the enemy for his schemes and destruction. I marched around praying and releasing and declaring. And then the Holy Spirit whispered in my heart a reminder to "let LOVE be your fuel". He reminded me of this scripture, that the true source of my authority is that I'm HIS. Because of that, I can display the love of Jesus, His nature, and His dominion to the world around me. I kept praying, releasing and declaring, but from a different heart posture. The motivation became love! When you know you are loved, chosen and accepted, you can begin to see other people that way too and your ministry shifts to being from a place of love and sonship and not anger or demanding your authority. It's already yours!
So this is to remind you, or tell you if this is the first time you've ever heard this, that you are loved, chosen, and created to love God and to be loved by Him. If you have a relationship with Jesus, let your heart posture be your sonship and from that place, know that YOU HAVE AUTHORITY through the blood of Jesus, because the Holy Spirit lives inside of you. Be encouraged that when you minister, knowing who you are because of Whose you are, Satan falls.
