Abide in Me
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5 ESV
Jesus draws a picture here of our total need for Him. Just as fruit cannot grow unless it’s connected to the vine, it’s source, neither can we grow and bear fruit if we aren’t connected to our Source.
What does it mean to abide in Him?
The Greek word for abide, men-ō, is translated:
to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy): - abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain.
Application:
Choose to stay in a state of awareness of the Holy Spirits presence, and ask Him to help you to be aware of Him throughout the day. Invite Him in to your daily activities and decisions, and expect Him to show up!
